Shawn Latham became the full time Director of Allies in Advocacy in 2021. He was formerly the Board President of Allies. Shawn is dedicated to improving the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He believes that people with I/DD belong in the community making decisions for themselves with the assistance of their family and friends as well as getting support from State services if need be. As the Director for Allies Shawn works with his Board of Directors and State partners to make sure State programs and policies work for everyone.

Prior to Allies Shawn worked for two Washington State Centers for Independent Living as an Independent Living Coordinator. Shawn worked one on one with individuals helping them work and achieve their goals of independence. Shawn also facilitated peer support groups in four counties helping those with disabilities get out into the community and meet their peers.

Shawn has a Bachelor of Science in Social Services from Central Washington University. Shawn currently lives in Olympia, Washington and enjoys exploring his community, spending time with friends and family and going to the movies.
